Queenslanders experience magnificent reef fishing at the Swain Reefs in winter

The crew of the Eastern Voyager have been working tirelessly to ensure our trips meet health requirements required under the COVID-19 regulations, and it’s been a joy to be able to get our live-aboard guests out amongst the reef fishing we all enjoy.

We recently had a terrific group of Queenslanders on board for a seven-day trip to the Swain reefs. As we departed from Gladstone, we were hopeful of a good week’s fishing based on some positive weather forecasts. Winter on the reef can deliver some exceptional experiences, and this trip was no exception. It was great to see mother nature turn on not only some fantastic weather, but excellent fishing. This savvy group of fishing enthusiasts had some fantastic catches of Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Cobia, Giant Trevally, Sweet Lip, Wahoo and more.

Our guests were able to take home a great hall of cleaned and processed fish, ready to see them through the next few months. Our crew were delighted to take care of these wonderful guests, and were thrilled that they had such a magnificent time.

Our trips are filling up fast for 2021, so if you would like to organise one for your group be sure to register your interest early and book with us online.
